A true outback stay, with a little more comfort

Set on a working sheep station just 40km north of Broken Hill, the Shearers Quarters offer a relaxed and authentic way to experience life in the outback.

Whether you’re looking for a comfortable private room after a day exploring the area, travelling on a budget, or visiting as part of a larger group, there are now two ways to stay in the historic Shearers Quarters.

Choose from our newly renovated Queen Rooms or our Classic twin-share rooms, with all guests enjoying access to shared kitchen, dining and bathroom facilities.

Renovated Queen Rooms

A comfortable base for your outback escape.

Four of our Shearers Quarters rooms have been completely renovated in 2026, combining the character of a traditional station stay with a few extra creature comforts. Stay in Saltbush, Wedgetail, Desert Pea or Shingleback.

Each private room features a queen bed, full insulation and heating and cooling, making them a comfortable place to retreat in both the warmer and cooler months.

The renovated rooms are ideal for couples, solo travellers or anyone wanting the experience of staying on a working station without giving up a comfortable night’s sleep.

RATES:

$100 per room per night (maximum 2 people per room)

Classic Shearers Rooms

Simple, affordable station accommodation.

For travellers looking for a more traditional Shearers Quarters experience, our original twin-share rooms are also available.

These simple private rooms feature single beds and provide an affordable base for exploring Mt Gipps, Broken Hill and the surrounding Far West NSW region.

Guests have access to the same shared kitchen, dining and bathroom facilities as the renovated rooms.

RATES:

$35 per person per night (if supplying linen)
$50 per person per night (including linen)

Guests staying in the Shearers Quarters have access to the newly renovated shared amenities and communal spaces, with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Freshen up after a day exploring with hot showers and plumbed toilets, prepare meals in the fully equipped kitchen, or relax in the shared dining room with reverse-cycle heating and cooling, a Smart TV and Starlink Wi-Fi.

Telstra phone reception is also available, making it easy to stay connected when you need to.

Outside, the beer garden is the perfect place to wind down at the end of the day. Light the open fire when conditions allow, settle in and enjoy the peace and quiet of the station.
